Overview:
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security by requiring both your password and a unique, time-based code from your mobile device. Enabling 2FA helps protect your account and sensitive company dataโeven if your password is compromised. Setting it up is simple and ensures secure access from day one.
When Youโll Be Prompted to Set Up 2FA
You may encounter the 2FA setup flow in the following scenarios:
โ Scenario 1: New Company Registration
After registering your company on Outstaffer, a blue security banner will appear on your dashboard prompting you to complete your 2FA setup.
Click the Set up 2FA link in the banner to begin the process.
๐ Scenario 2: 2FA Reset by Team Member
If your 2FA was reset by an Outstaffer admin or teammate (e.g., due to lost device), you'll be prompted to set up 2FA again upon your next login.
๐ Scenario 3: First-Time User Invitation
New users invited to an existing company account will be automatically guided through the 2FA setup after setting their password and logging in for the first time.
How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
๐ ๏ธ Prerequisite: Install an Authenticator App
Before starting, install a TOTP-compatible authenticator app on your mobile device:
Google Authenticator (iOS | Android)
Authy
Microsoft Authenticator
1Password (with OTP support)
๐ Ensure your mobile device is nearby and ready to scan a QR code.
Step-by-Step Setup ๐
Scan the QR Code: On the 2FA setup screen, open your authenticator app and scan the displayed QR code. Your Outstaffer account will be added automatically.
Enter the Verification Code: The app will generate a 6-digit verification code. Enter this code into the field provided on the screen.
-
Save Your Secret Key: Below the QR code, you'll see a secret key.
Save this securely (e.g., in a password manager).
This key is essential for recovering your account if you lose your device. โ ๏ธ
Complete the Setup: Click Continue to finish. Youโll be redirected to your Outstaffer dashboard, and 2FA will now be enforced during future logins.
What to Expect After Setup
Every time you log into Outstaffer:
Enter your email and password.
Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
Gain access to your secure dashboard.
This step ensures only you can access your accountโeven if someone knows your password.
Managing 2FA Access ๐
Keep your authenticator app accessible whenever logging in.
Lost your device? Contact your team admin or Outstaffer Support (support@outstaffer.com) to request a 2FA reset.
Changed phones? Use the secret key to restore access in your new authenticator app.
๐ For added protection, enable app backup or cloud sync if supported by your authenticator app.
Important Reminders โ ๏ธ
Your secret key is your recovery method. Store it securely and never share it.
If both your device and secret key are lost, admin support will be required to restore access.
