π’ What Has Changed?
As of February 11, 2025, Outstaffer no longer supports SMS-based Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). To enhance security and protect your account from modern cyber threats, we now only support authenticator apps for 2FA.
If you were previously using SMS for 2FA, you will need to switch to an authenticator app to continue securing your account.
β οΈ Why We Discontinued SMS-Based 2FA
While SMS 2FA was once a common method for account security, it has become vulnerable to multiple security risks, including:
π¨ SIM Swapping Attacks β Hackers can transfer your phone number to a different SIM card, allowing them to receive your 2FA codes.
π£ Phishing Attacks β Cybercriminals can impersonate trusted services to trick you into revealing your SMS-based authentication codes.
π‘ Message Interception β SMS messages can be intercepted by attackers using SS7 protocol exploits, making them less secure than authenticator apps.
π Device Theft & Cloning β If someone gains access to your phone, they can retrieve your 2FA codes from SMS messages, potentially compromising your account.
π How This Improves Your Security
By switching to authenticator apps, we ensure that your 2FA codes remain secure on your device, reducing the risk of interception and unauthorized access. Authenticator apps generate time-sensitive codes that are not tied to your phone number, making them far more secure than SMS-based authentication.
πΉ Faster & More Reliable β Codes are generated instantly, without relying on mobile networks.
πΉ More Secure β No risk of SIM swap attacks or message interception.
πΉ Works Offline β Codes are accessible even without an internet or cellular connection.
π What You Need to Do
If you were using SMS 2FA, you must switch to an authenticator app to continue securing your Outstaffer account.
